Get ready to volunteer Richmond! From the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay:

In 2012 the Alliance will plant 1500 native tree seedlings and trees in the city of Richmond and surrounding counties.  This new project is a part of the Alliance’s Healing the Land Initiatives. This work is made possible through a generous grant from Altria.  To help implement this new project, we are proud to announce a partnership with Hands-On Greater Richmond who will help with volunteer coordination of the tree planting events. Our plan is to engage local watershed and community-based groups and members of the local corporate community in learning why trees are so important to help protect clean water in streams and rivers and to enjoy a day (or more) of volunteering to plant trees.  This work will help the City of Richmond and the Commonwealth of Virginia to achieve local clean-up plans for the James River watershed and create a greener City.
