CANCELED: High water levels in the James River have cancelled the James River Parade of Lights for 2011. The James is full of debris and was cresting at more than 15 feet Friday. It should remain above flood stage (12 feet) through the weekend. There is no make up date.

Post before the cancellation:

The 19th Annual James River Parade of Lights will be held Saturday, December 10. The parade features boats decorated with holiday lights and attracts thousands of Richmond-area residents each year.

This year’s parade features festively decorated boats that cruise the parade course from Richmond to Chesterfield and Henrico counties with spectators from throughout the region that gather at several official viewing locations. See the recommended viewing areas on Richmond.com
