JROC’s Wetzler finds freedom on the James River

If you have been monitoring the progress down at the Reedy Creek takeout, much of the credit for the project goes to Sally Wetzler of the James River Outdoor Coalition, a paddler with a unique story, including the fact that she “uses a wheelchair to get around- most of the time.”

I interviewed Wetzler for my column in the Richmond Times-Dispatch during the construction of the takeout.  Read an interview with Wetzler to find out how she got into paddling, how she has made an impact on the James River’s accessibility and her poignant moment in Mexico that she dedicated to the woman who taught her to paddle.
