Plant Virginia bluebells at Pony Pasture Saturday

December 8, 2011 · 0 minute read

The Friends of the James River Park and Chesapeake Bay Foundation need volunteers Saturday at Pony Pasture to pull invasive English Ivy and plant Virginia bluebells and Dutchman’s breeches.

Go to Pony Pasture Park on Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is recruiting volunteers to come out. Gloves, tools, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Jess Barton at (804) 780-1392 or jbarton@cbf.org.

Members of the FOJRP will also be there to guide volunteers. The plantings are part of an effort to remove unwanted, non-native plants and to restore native plants (and cute ones at that) to the riverbanks of the James River.
