Want to give back to the river? Consider JROC

The James River Outdoor Coalition is a non-profit river group committed to recreation and preservation of the James River Park in Richmond. Read this membership drive from the JROC:

Dear James River Park System Users,

This letter is to all James River Outdoor Coalition (JROC) members and those people who have expressed an interest in improving our parks along the river. We are currently having our annual membership drive. If you are not a member already, we invite you to join this active volunteer organization. Please know that joining does not commit you to anything other than being a part of an organization that loves the James River Park System and aims to improve it.

We would like to offer a special thank you to all of our members that contributed ideas, labor and financial support during our previous year. Your work and contributions have been keystone in completing two major park projects. 1) Access steps for the Manchester Climbing Wall, which improves the throughway for hikers, and increases the safety for climbers. 2) The Reedy Creek Boat Ramp, which now provides accessibility for all paddlers and stabilizes the river bank, at the most heavily used canoe and kayak access point along the James River.

Annual dues are $20 for an individual, $30 for a  household, and $50 for a corporation. Memberships are current for the calendar year. Your dues, and any additional contributions, go directly to the funding of JROC projects. Your membership allows you to vote on proposed projects in the Park. As JROC is a non-profit organization, any additional contributions are tax deductible.

Attached is a short membership application. If you are a new member or your contact information has changed, please fill this out. Checks should be made out to JROC, and the application should be mailed to: JROC, P.O. Box 297, Richmond, Va. 23219.

New this year is the ability to pay online by credit card. Please email the Membership Chair, Harrison Whitten at harrisonwhitten@gmail.com to have an online donation request sent via Paypal.

For the most up-to-date information about JROC, please follow us on Facebook. Our meetings are held monthly (except July and August) at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at the James River Park Headquarters, Reedy Creek Visitors Center, 4101 Riverside Drive.
