If you have children between the ages of 5 and 10 and/or if you're looking for a more chill ride with smaller waves, plenty of awesome scenery and swimming, the Upper River trip is for you! After leaving from the shop, we will put-in by the Pony Pasture section of the James River Park System and cruise the Upper section (Class I-II whitewater) of the James through the heart of Richmond's urban forest. We'll play in rapids and cool off with dips in the river. Drinks and a snack are also provided. The trip will finish up at the Reedy Creek park HQ. Then it’s back to Riverside Outfitter's for a beverage and some front porch sittin’...a perfect way to relax and share stories with your guides.

“Our guide was Ryan and he did an amazing job! My boyfriend and I flew from Florida to Virginia for a week and the white water rafting was definitely on our list, I was a little nervous but once we got out there it was nothing! Super fun time and the water felt amazing. Would definitely recommend Riverside Outfitters for a first timer and even young children!”
“This was an excellent experience. The on-site personnel were absolutely great with the kids AND adults, which is so important with this type of adventure.”
